Tailored Fitness Sessions With a Personal Trainer

If you’re like most parents I know, you’ve focused all your time and energy on raising your children, taking care of your home, and working that 9-5 job. That’s where I come in. My name is Denise Wellik-Peterson, and I am a personal trainer located in Ham Lake. I have created a 12-week training program geared toward getting your health back on track. I work to get you in a position where you have improved your eating habits and workout habits so you can live a longer, healthier, more fulfilling life.

Personal Training: What It Is (and Isn’t)

At its core, my personal training program is a lifestyle change program.

  • It is hands-on weight lifting to help you build muscle and gain balance. It is not a mix of cardio and weight sessions – you’ll get no benefit out of me watching you run on a treadmill for a half hour.
  • It is personalized nutritional guidance to help you learn the framework to building a healthier diet. It is not program that provides you with pre-created meal plans or grocery lists.
  • It is a program focused on overall health, which includes your measuring your energy levels, weight loss, and fit of your clothes. It is not a program that emphasizes fast weight loss.
  • It is a straightforward, supportive program that gives you the information you need to succeed. It is not a “get in your face” or “yell at you until I’m blue” program.

The purpose of my personal training programs is to help you create real change for your health and future. I am here to help you change your eating habits, see a change in your blood work, and increase the empowerment you feel over your lifestyle choices.

Your Personalized 3-Month Workout Program: How It Works

I was a trainee long before I was a personal trainer. And during my training sessions, my trainer told me where to go and what to do, but never how to do it or why to do it. So when it was time for me to hit the gym on my own for the first time, I didn’t know where to start, what weight to choose, or how to set the equipment properly and safely.

The “how” or why” are now big components of my program. I want to empower you to be able to take this 3-month personal training program and turn it into something you can do on your own for the rest of your life.

I will break your program into three separate sections to get you to the point where you can maintain this routine yourself.

  • During the first four weeks, I’ll ask that you trust me while I work to learn about you, your body and your boundaries. I will manage your weights, adjusting as necessary, as well as setting your seat and making any other equipment adjustments.
  • Over the next four weeks, I will begin to explain in detail what it is we’re doing and why, so you not only understand the exercises, but also how those exercises help you. You’ll learn why I designed the program the way I did and how we will adjust it moving forward to keep challenging you.
  • During your final four weeks, I will turn control over to you, asking you to handle the weights and seat settings so you become comfortable with all of the workout equipment. That way, when your sessions are over, you could walk into any gym and recreate your workout.

You and I will spend three days a week together for 30 minutes apiece throughout this program. We will schedule regular measurement check-ins, including fitness assessments and pictures. This way you’ll get to see—as well as feel—the changes your body is making, all for the better!
